Stay in Your Lane

As Christmas time is coming around, Shaun and I get to see a lot more people that we usually don’t. These are friends, family and acquaintances. One of the things that we have noticed is that we judge other people before even talking to them or we care about things that don’t matter to us. By this, I mean we need to stay in our lane and only worry about ourselves.

I haven’t always been this way, but for the past 5-8 years I am more judgmental towards other than I used to be. I don’t know what it was that changed, but it could have been from my college environment, going on birth control or I lost my patience for other people. No matter what, I want to get back to not caring about other people as much and focus on myself.

In hindsight, it is weird to think about how much time I have spent judging people I don’t know or thinking I know someone before I have given them a chance. It is a negative way to live life and it helps no one. We had an event to go to and I had such a negative view going into it because I jumped to conclusions. Instead, I had the best time and actually didn’t want it to end. I was so focused on these negative thoughts in my head, that it ruined my whole week. If I would have just stayed in my lane and just looked forward to seeing these people, I would have had a better week.

Another thing to keep in mind, is that others can have their own opinions and that is okay. No one has the same life as you, so obviously other people are going to want/need different things. My whole view on politics has changed since Shaun became a business owner compared to when I was in college. It both of those situations, I needed different things from our government. Now, most people aren’t business owners, so they are not going to have the same views as Shaun and I. Remember, THAT IS OKAY.

We will never truly know what other people are going through and there is no point to affect our lives on something that doesn’t matter to us. If someone brings up their life to you, be as non biased as possible because everyone is given a different deck and we all have to figure out how to play. Let’s stop with all of this negativity in life and start being more positive and loving life again.

Judge less and focus on yourself.
